the standard of work exhibited at the Society throughout the whole year earns the right to the distinguished title. The winner is ultimately decided as all finalists in the competition gather to vote at the much-awaited "Artist of the Year" exhibition in November of each year. In 2001The award was presented to Paul by the then Victorian Minister for the Arts, The Hon. Mary Delahunty,MLA. A medallion, the work of renowned Australian sculptor Stanley Hammond MBE, cast in bronze and mounted, commemorates the award and is presented to the winner.
Artist of the Year exhibition. It is sponsored by the Kaye family in memory of the late Norman Kaye, a great supporter of the VAS and founder of Camden Art. This award is also commemorated by a bronze medallion sculpted by Stanley Hammond MBE. *** |
